According to Chaly, it will not be possible to sit out the war, and therefore Ukraine and its partners must look for asymmetric actions and means in relation to Russia.
“We must make sure that other countries are also involved in this war. I am convinced that peace comes after escalation, and not the other way around. That is, if we show escalation on our side, and that the Poles, Lithuanians and French are on our side, if we are not afraid to have pilots from these countries – the French on the Mirages, American veterans on the F-16, if we create such a trilateral brigade and use it at the border, Putin (Vladimir Putin, Russia’s dictator – ed.) will start screaming,” he explained.
The diplomats added that after this, Russia will realize that there is no turning back and will start looking for “where to direct all this.”
Threat of conflict between Russia and NATO
In early 2024, the German edition Image presented the scenario of military exerciseswhere the German armed forces are preparing for possible hybrid attacks by Russia on NATO’s eastern borders. A representative of the North Atlantic Alliance commented on this information and noted that Exercise scenarios are conditional and used to assess military capabilities in different regions.
The Lithuanian Ministry of Defense, in turn, emphasized that there are no real threats from Russia to NATO yetas Moscow focused its efforts on the conflict in Ukraine.
At the same time, as Finnish President Alexander Stubb noted, today NATO returns to its original missionfor which the alliance was created, that is, to contain threats from the east.
