The American president made a corresponding statement on Friday, October 18, during his farewell visit to Germany.
He stressed that NATO allies must “secure our support… until Ukraine achieves a just and sustainable peace.”
Biden also condemned Russian dictator Vladimir Putin for his “brutal attack on Ukraine.” According to the US president, NATO remains strong and more united than ever.
“We are facing a very difficult winter. We cannot give up,” Biden added.
Biden’s visit to Germany
Let’s remember that this is Joe Biden’s last visit to Europe as US President. The United States will hold presidential elections in November.
Biden was due to arrive in Germany last week for his first three-day visit in 40 years. He is also expected to lead a Ramstein-style meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at an airbase in Germany. The trip was canceled due to a severe hurricane in the United States.
On the evening of October 17 Biden arrived in Berlin his visit will be one day. In Berlin he will meet the leaders of Germany, France and Great Britain.
