Siemens has decided to appoint Fernando Silva as the new president and CEO of Siemens Spain, effective December 1. Ricardo Ramos will become the new CEO of Siemens Mobility Spain and southwestern Europe as of January 1. In this way, both will succeed Agustín Escobar, who will take on a new role as CEO of Rail Infrastructure globally at Berlin (Germany)-based Siemens Mobility.
Fernando Silva, the new president and CEO of Siemens Spain, said that he was honored by this appointment and was very excited to manage the company in Spain from now on. “We have the best talent in the market and a service offering that combines deep knowledge and experience in the markets in which we operate with comprehensive mastery of new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twin, Edge Computing or Industrial Metaverse. The new president and CEO of Siemens Spain has more than twenty-five years of experience at the company, since he started his career in the energy sector in 1999. As General Manager of Energy Management for Spain and Portugal, he managed a portfolio of transportation, distribution and energy supply infrastructure companies. Between October 2011 and September 2014, he served as general manager in the Low and Medium Voltage and Smart Grids departments in the Infrastructure and Cities Sector.
Previously, Fernando Silva was responsible for the Energy Automation and Services business units integrated into the Energy Sector, with a particular focus on the transmission and distribution market segments, and was also corporate account manager for the EDP Group at Siemens.
He is a graduate of Electronics Engineering from the Lisbon Institute of Engineering (ISEL) and completed his studies in e-Business in 2002. He also studied ‘Information Management’ at the “Faculdade de Ciências Económicas e Empresariais” (FCEE) department of Universidade Católica Portuguesa and graduated from the Advanced Management Program for Managers of the same university in 2005.
Siemens Mobility’s new CEO responsible for Spain and Southwest Europe has 25 years of experience in the railway industry. He started his career specifically at Invensys Rail Dimetronic as an R&D&I project engineer between 1999 and 2007, and then devoted himself to both national and international business development, focusing on Western and North America between 2007 and 2012. It also supports the markets of Brazil, India, South Africa, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia.
Ricardo then led R&D and I’s Public Transport Technology area until Siemens Spain acquired Invensys Rail Dimetronic in 2013. From this date on, he was responsible for the Metro Systems Competence Center between 2013 and 2018, and between the following two years (2018-2020) he managed the Engineering areas and application development center of Siemens Mobility Spain. From 2020 to the present, he is director of the Mainline segment in the Rail Infrastructure business area at the global level of Siemens Mobility based in Braunschweig (Germany), a role he will play until the end of this year.
Ricardo Ramos holds a degree in Physical Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid and completed his studies in 1999, followed by in-company leadership programs of Invensys (Excellence Program in Leadership) in 2008 and Siemens (Leadership Academy) in 2015.
