Although Sequels (Instagram Twitter) has more users Bluesky X seems to stand out as a great alternative. A recent event which took place in the United States of America and on Elon Musk’s platform they did more users to leave X *who transferred the growth itself to the platform. It is also an enormous challenge compared to a capital aspect of any social network: moderation.
Bluesky growth. The platform has grown in recent days up to 19 million usersmore or less to one million a day. It is a figure that demonstrates the reality of finding a feasible alternative to X. What is going on? That means more users means more problems.
Reports. On Bluesky, anyone can report content that they believe is dangerous, illegal, or violates community standards. According to details from the platform, in just 24 hours They received 42,000 deliveriesthat is 3,000 complaints per hour. It is a historical comment and a figure that may seem low if we compare it with 19 million users, but this is better understood with another information: in 2023 alone, Bluesky received 360,000 reports in total.
In other words, Bluesky in one day received 11.6% of the reports received throughout the year. A technical challenge if ever there was one.
In the past 24 hours, we’ve received more than 42,000 listens (an all-time high for a single day). We receive approximately 3,000 deliveries/hour. To put that in context, in all 2023, we received 360k reports. We are testing this large queue so that the most destructive content is removed from the CSA quickly.

That must be answered. From the platform, that have 20 fully employed, they state that “with this significant influx of users” we have also seen an increase in spam, scams and trolls”. They also state that “this large queue to classify (reports) as the most destructive contention, such as child sexual abuse, is quickly removed”.
The first measure. You want a new user You have to check your email before you eat, as simple as that. In this way, the platform aims to prevent users from browsing with bad intentions with throwaway emails. Verification could reduce enforcement risks. It doesn’t eliminate them, but it increases the need for anyone willing to create multiple accounts using temporary emails.
How to avoid X2. Social media is not inherently bad, but it can have a harmful effect when certain behaviors are allowed and/or control is removed or reduced. In 2022, Elon Musk will have 80% of Twitter’s operations and by October 2023; 10 reduced its own content control capabilities by 20%. Some information is availablecorresponding to April 2024, they show that 1,849 people have a controlling platform. We are talking about one controller for every 60, 200 users. Meta, to put it in context, has 15,000 controllers, one for every 17,600 users.
To this we add the CEO who defends the concept of “freedom of speech”. above all (making obstructions uselesseg behaviors that violate your platform words and this took a series of antibot measurements because it was not effective. Bluesky doesn’t want to become what X has become and, in doing so, it offers some interesting tools.
Bluesky against the Trolls. It is one of the nicest tools untagging quotes. If someone quotes someone from our post and has the advantage to, for example, make fun of us or hurt us, we can make it dirty and our site will not appear under them. Nothing prevents the use of a gun for the same purposes, but at least there is a tool, which is not enough.
The second is a user index for mass blocking. These boards, which anyone can create, all users who talk about certain topics, have this or that way, can contribute in the same list, etc. Let’s say we don’t want to read, see, listen to or interact with accounts that are spread about scams. chemtrails, pseudoscience, flat earthingetc. Well, we can cut or block all the people who talk about those places in the list and silence. What’s more, we can share this list publicly so anyone can do it.
This allows us to feed ourselves cleanly and abstain from those things that we have in our harmful habits. Lockdowns, by the way, do not restrict any type of trade. A blocked user will not be able to like, mention, reply or follow us, and their profile and/or publications will not be displayed in our feeds.
