When asked about Russia’s use of KN-23 ballistic missiles to attack Ukraine, Chernyak said that The occupiers have already fired about 60 such North Korean-made missiles.
He noted that KN-23 is based on outdated technology, which is why its accuracy is not very high. But Russia also receives from North Korea a huge amount of artillery ammunition, amounting to millions of units.
“We constantly see the movement of cargo and containers. We do not rule out that there may be artillery ammunition produced by North Korea, which is already stored in its warehouses. Yes, this is also a great danger for Ukraine.”
The representative of the Ukrainian intelligence service emphasized that Russia, despite its own military resources, also attracts ammunition produced in North Korea.
KN-23
At the beginning of the summer, the dictators of Russia and North Korea, Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un, signed a comprehensive strategic partnership agreement. The document provides for mutual support in the event of aggression against one of the parties. At the same time, Putin tried to convince Kim to open diplomatic missions in occupied Donetsk and Lugansk. The Pentagon expressed concern about the possible participation of North Korean soldiers in the war in Ukraine, calling them potential “cannon fodder”.
According to The Guardian, there is a possibility that North Korean troops help the occupiers launch KN-23 missiles.
