Pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca will hire 1,000 people throughout 2025 to strengthen its power centre from Barcelona. With this operation, the multinational company will double its current staff in Barcelona. Additionally, the British company plans to move into Telefónica’s former headquarters (the Estel building on Barcelona’s Avenida Roma) next year, once modernization work on the property is completed. Besides projects in Barcelona, AstraZeneca also strengthened its presence in the Spanish capital. Two months ago the company inaugurated its new headquarters in Madrid, located in Madrid Nuevo Norte, the new epicenter of its business activities.

The Madrid Healthcare Innovation Center is focused on the development of collaborative projects and solutions to respond to unmet medical needs, from prevention and diagnosis to treatment and monitoring of diseases.
To date, AstraZeneca has invested close to €10 million in digital health projects in Spain and signed 400 collaboration agreements with main national centres, benefiting more than 350,000 patients across the country.
