Two public successes which, if they have a title in common – A happy manFROM William Sheller (present in Piano voice More, extended version of The piano voice, released on December 4) –, outline two approaches and, implicitly, two very different conceptions of the Francophone repertoire.
Recorded in public during two duo concerts at La Seine musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt (Hauts-de-Seine), The piano voice celebrates above all the aristocracy of “text songs”. Barbara, Jacques Brel, Alain Bashung, Brigitte Fontaine, Jacques Higelin or Léo Ferré and Georges Brassens (through the music they composed for the texts of Louis Aragon) are served by the respectful presence of the singer and the nimble sobriety of the pianist.
