According to Fico, after he told Zelensky that Slovakia could lose about 500 million euros a year in gas transit fees, the Ukrainian president reportedly asked him if he would vote for Ukraine’s membership in NATO if he gave him 500 million euros of Russian assets.
“And, of course, I never said,” Fico replied based on his words.
After their meeting, the head of the Slovak government told reporters that Zelensky’s proposals, which were presented to him behind closed doors, were “absurd”. He also suggested that “Ukraine is taking it upon itself to damage the economy” of an EU member state.
