BEIRUT – MA’AN – Lebanon’s Minister of Agriculture Abbas Alhaj Hassan today, Saturday, condemned the continued attacks by Israel on the country’s crops and farmland.
In a post on his X platform account, Haji Hassan called on the international community and UNIFIL to stop such attacks and work to protect farmers from attacks.
“Israel has repeatedly carried out strongly condemned attacks on Lebanese territory, the latest of which was the bulldozing of a citrus orchard in the town of Nakoura, near the UNIFIL military headquarters,” he said.
“This attack (which occurred on Saturday) is a violation of our country’s sovereignty, a threat to our food security, and puts our country’s wealth, sovereignty and farmers’ livelihoods at great risk.”
He continued: “We call on the international community and UNIFIL to take responsibility for stopping these attacks and protecting farmers.”
