Ukrainian and Russian ISW sources did not report any fighting in the Gulyai-Polye direction (eastern Zaporozhye region) on 22 December.
Ukrainian Defense Forces recently retook previously lost positions in the western Zaporozhye region following reports of local offensive operations by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the area.
Geolocation footage published on December 22 shows that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have retaken lost positions in the center of Kamenskoye (northwest of Rabotino), and a Russian “military correspondent” claimed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have likely pushed back Russian troops from the northern part of Kamenskoye to the eastern bank of the Kakhovsky reservoir.

A Ukrainian official confirmed that Russian sabotage and reconnaissance groups recently made a limited attempt to cross the Dnieper River in the Kherson region.
On December 21, the spokesman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Vladislav Voloshin, said that on December 20, the invaders launched powerful artillery and missile attacks on the western part (right bank) of the Kherson region, during which the Russian DRG unsuccessfully tried to cross the Dnieper in the area around the Antonovsky Bridge (east of Kherson).
Voloshin said that Russian troops did not manage to cross half the river before the Ukrainian armed forces destroyed the enemy DRG, noting that the occupiers used weather conditions and smoke screens to hide the attempt to advance.
Voloshin also said that Russian troops are trying to land the DRG in other areas of the Dnieper, and the Russians are concentrated on Kozatsky Island (east of Kherson) and Bolshoi Potemkin Island (south of Kherson).
