The Senate Chamber today welcomed Riccardo Muti and the Cherubini Orchestra, founded by the maestro. Guests and institutional authorities, including the Head of State Sergio Mattarella and the presidents of the Chamber and Senate, Lorenzo Fontana and Ignazio La Russa, stood up to give thunderous applause to Muti and the young musicians. La Russa gave the director “as a sign of gratitude and admiration” the bell with which he tries to restore tranquility to the political debate. The teacher first asked, ironically, if the bell was gold. Then he stressed: “I didn’t prepare a speech and when I don’t do it, no one can predict what comes out of my mouth. You have heard two extremely complex compositions played by the flower of Italian youth. years ago to transmit the teachings I received”
