ROME – “To solve the prison problem we should do serving sentences for drug-dependent youth in the community so that the punishment serves to recover the person, that is the objective.” The statement was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, during his usual Christmas visit to the “Community in dialogue”from Trivigliano, in the province of Frosinone.
The message on social media
“For more than thirty years I have spent Christmas Eve with the boys and girls of the ‘Community in dialogue’ of Trivigliano”, writes the deputy prime minister on social media. “A place of hopewhere those lost to drugs and addiction are brought back to life. I thank the founder Father Matteo and all the volunteers for what they do. We all fall, the important thing is to get up. Merry Christmas from the Lord, dear boys.”
The message to young people
“Politics must be increasingly closer to those who suffer and those in need”, began the minister, greeting the young people of the community. The deputy prime minister is very close to the founder Don Matteo Tagliaferrievery December 24th he has lunch in the company of “young people who are fighting to get out of the tunnel of addiction”. Bringing young people back to life restoring their dignity and the possibility of reintegration is very important.”

“Antonio Tajani has been coming here to Trivigliano to help us for 30 years and has always collaborated actively. “Antonio has been close to these children for years even after they have completed the journey and definitively left the addiction. He accompanied them, covering all the expenses of the trip – says Don Matteo – to the European Parliament and now he has told us that he will welcome them at Farnesina”.
“The deputy prime minister is a active and constant commitmentimportant for this community. Only in Trivigliano there is one hundred children with various addictions who are assisted in their recovery and integration into society.”
After many years, many young people have positively reintegrated into society as “new consciousnesses” compared to the culture that caused them discomfort. Communities are a valuable help for young people”.
